# Redaction log

Public evidence package v1.0.2. Every change from a frozen or committed file to its public copy is made by a fixed rule in the build script and counted here. Files not listed in the per-file table are byte-identical to their source.

## Question instrument (rule group R2)

The fixed instruction that every question of all three batteries carries, and its market-localised variants (UAE, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, which differ only by the market name), are part of the withheld instrument (§2.8). The build script derives them at build time from the frozen files and never stores them: the suffix from the suffix-stripping regexes in the study scripts and the second-pass builders, the framing wording from the quotation in protocol deviation D13, and the market names from `lib.ts`. It then withholds every occurrence and stops if any 12-character window of the fixed wording, in any market variant, survives anywhere in the package.

| Item | Where | Treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted framing instruction (1) | `protocol/easd-2026-evidence-to-answer-prereg.md` | Replaced by `[fixed framing instruction withheld under §2.8]` |
| Suffix-stripping regex literal (2) | `second-pass/easd-2026-second-pass-builders.py` | Literal replaced by `<fixed instruction suffix withheld>`, with a comment at the line |
| 12-character windows gated | every public file | 36 windows checked; 0 found |

Prompt identifiers (R2e). The study's prompt identifiers are semantic slot names that state each question's topic. With the answer spans beside them they disclose which topics the battery asks about, which is battery composition (§10). Every one is mapped to an opaque identifier that is stable within its series across every file: uae-glp1 61, singapore-sglt2 26, saudi-t1d 56 identifiers. The mapping keeps the focused/brand-neutral class, which the paper reports. The key is held by AlphaCitation.

## Operational details (rule group R4)

| Rule | Item | Files |
|---|---|---|
| R4a | name of the parameter changed at v5 | none |
| R4b | credential environment-variable names (no values were present) | none |
| R4c | internal spend-counter key namespace | none |
| R4d | internal brand row identifiers (UUIDs) | none |
| R4e | local machine paths of the held pull and caches | `second-pass/easd-2026-second-pass-builders.py` (2), `freeze/easd-2026-freeze.json` (2), `validation/human-validation-protocol.md` (3) |
| R4f | deployment configuration file, scheduler pin table and scheduler test file names | `protocol/easd-2026-evidence-to-answer-prereg.md` (3) |
| R4g | commercial-relationship detail in D10, internal job names in D10 and D20, and the figures script's job-name pattern | `protocol/easd-2026-evidence-to-answer-prereg.md` (3) |
| R4h | the production LLM budget in the bridge script: the shared daily cap, the default ceiling and the hard stop | none |

Retained deliberately: the database client library name in the scripts' import lines and the table and column names in their read-only queries (they show what the scripts read; none is reachable without credentials); the bridge's own metered costs (disclosed in D11, D15 and D21); the instrument version numbers v4 and v5 (the protocol publishes the fact and effect of the change).

## Cycle identifiers (rule R5a; the source-identification policy)

The study's cycle identifiers open live public scorecard pages, so each is replaced by its neutral cycle code (67 codes in the internal map, which is never released) in every file, keys and values alike, including the code copies and the verifier output (the public verifier, run on the public coding files, still reproduces it: G11). G14 stops the build if any identifier of the internal form survives. Totals per file are in the table above (R5a).

## Gemini (rules R1l–R1p; the Gemini reporting policy)

Gemini results are reported in aggregate; verbatim outputs and grounding links are not redistributed. The engine of each answer is read from the coding outputs, which record it on every row; files keyed by answer hash take it from there, and the 8 answers whose engine no public file records are treated as Gemini's.

| Rule | What | Total |
|---|---|---|
| R1l | Gemini grounding-redirect link replaced by a typed marker (the Gemini reporting policy) | 6628 |
| R1m | Verbatim Gemini answer text (a coded span or a figure as written) replaced by a marker; the sha256 of the withheld string is kept beside it (the Gemini reporting policy) | 4881 |
| R1n | Quoted fragment of a Gemini answer inside a coder's note, adjudication or second-pass note replaced by a marker (the Gemini reporting policy) | 333 |
| R1o | A page cited only by Gemini: URL replaced by a neutral token [gemini-only]/pNNNN; publisher, title, quotation and note withheld; page date to the month (the release policy) | 1853 |
| R1p | Run of 40 or more normalised characters of a Gemini answer span found elsewhere (prose, notes) replaced by a marker (the Gemini reporting policy) | 9 |

Gemini records changed: 1861 in the JSON files; 2907 spans and 1971 figure strings withheld (JSON and Markdown ledgers together); 333 quoted fragments in notes. 1575 pages were cited only by Gemini; they are given by a neutral token, with publisher, title and quotation withheld. Each withheld span or figure string keeps its sha256 (`spanSha256`, `textSha256`), which identifies it in the held pull without disclosing it.

## Page P61 (rules R1i, R1j, R1k; post-registration, D24 item 12)

Page P61 is the pre-congress page of a local business that Claude's UAE answers cite from 29 Sep. Its company, domain, URL and page title are withheld like every local business (rule group R1), and the build checks them separately (G13). Some answers repeat three of its sentences. The robustness output names two of them by neutral labels (S1, S2); the third (S3) was found by disclosure audit B and is held in the builder as window hashes in the same form. The page is described only by its neutral type. Any further description of the page (its line of business, its exact date, words of its sentences) is withheld by rule R1k and gated by G13. Every run of 40 or more normalised characters of any of the three sentences is replaced by `[sentence S1 of withheld page P61]`, `[sentence S2 of withheld page P61]` or `[sentence S3 of withheld page P61]` (R1i). The build never holds or writes their text.

| File | R1i | R1j | R1k |
|---|---|---|---|
| `coding/final/easd-2026-final-coding-ledger.md` | 35 | 0 | 35 |
| `coding/final/easd-2026-final-coding.json` | 35 | 0 | 175 |
| `coding/manual/easd-2026-manual-codes.json` | 29 | 0 | 58 |
| `e1/easd-2026-e1-manifest.json` | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| `e4/easd-2026-e4-label-audit.json` | 1 | 0 | 2 |
| `protocol/easd-2026-evidence-to-answer-prereg.md` | 0 | 0 | 1 |

R1k replaces the descriptive clause about the page in protocol deviation D24 (append-only in the repository) with the neutral type the robustness output uses ("a local commercial blog post (UAE), August 2026, before the congress"). It also withholds every figure that sits beside a sentence marker: in the coding files, the hand codes and the E4 audit, the figure's text becomes `[figure beside a withheld sentence of page P61]` and its value, unit, decimals and matched reference values become null (a reference value would give the figure back); in the ledgers, the figure and its reference values are withheld. The measure, category and precision stay, so no E4 count changes. G13 also stops the build if any word describing the page beyond its neutral type appears in the same record as a mention of the page.

P61's withheld entity carries the token type `local-commercial-or-unclassified-site`, D24's neutral type, instead of the type the keyword heuristic gave it (founder decision on v1.0-rc3). Tokens are stable within a version, not across versions: v1.0-rc5 renumbers tokens within every type whose membership changed under the source policy below.

The robustness script is not released (implementation proprietary), so none of its hash tables is published; rules R1i, R1j and R1k apply wherever the package quotes the page.

## Long answer spans (R3)

3 coded spans exceed 240 characters (the longest 246). They are quoted for a coding decision and kept; each is listed for review.

| File | Location | Characters |
|---|---|---|
| `e1/easd-2026-e1-ledger.json` | `.text[16].span` | 246 |
| `coding/final/easd-2026-saudi-final-coding-ledger.md` | `line 255` | 241 |
| `coding/final/easd-2026-saudi-final-coding-ledger.md` | `line 256` | 241 |

## Source identification (rule group R1; the source-identification policy)

**Policy.** One rule for every engine, window and series; no source is named or withheld according to the direction of a finding. The registered boundary protects local clinics, pharmacies and businesses, those located in the measured markets; the criterion for naming is the **major non-local organisation**.

- **Named:** regulators, governments and intergovernmental bodies; journals and scientific publishers; medical and drug databases; academic institutions; academic medical centres and non-profit health systems outside the measured markets, and public university and government hospitals; professional societies and non-profits; news media, press-release wires and financial media; sponsors and manufacturers; reference works; market-research publishers and other established research organisations; international retailers; major non-local commercial companies, including consumer health companies and apps; and major non-local healthcare companies (pharmacy chains, insurers at group level, telehealth companies, laboratory companies, hospital groups).
- **Withheld (typed token):** everything operated or headquartered in a measured market, including local clinics, pharmacies, laboratories, insurers and care providers, regional platforms, and regional entities of international groups (decided by where the operator is, not by the size of the business); franchise outlet pages of international brands; and non-local small businesses, clinics, pharmacies, practitioners, distributors, affiliates and personal sites, which are not major organisations.
- **Platform token:** pages on social, video, maps, review, marketplace, file-hosting and provider-directory platforms; the platform is named, the account, seller, provider or item is not.
- **Operator not identifiable:** an entity whose operator could not be identified from its domain and page titles is not shown to be major and is withheld; each such entity was reviewed and its decision recorded.
- **Pages:** a public-entity page whose title or path names a withheld entity keeps its host only, with its date to the month (R1f, R1q). A page cited only by Gemini is given by a neutral token only; its publisher, title and any quotation are withheld (R1o).

**Counts.** 2275 hostnames appear in the frozen files (the E1 manifest and ledger, answer spans and code). 916 hostnames of 834 named entities keep their URLs (the Gemini-only pages apart). 1276 entities are withheld, each replaced by one typed token, and 49 platforms carry platform tokens. 572 non-local entities are withheld as not major organisations (355 of them small businesses, practitioners, distributors, affiliates or personal sites), 41 whose operator could not be identified were resolved under the same criterion, and 0 remain flagged. 28 pages of named entities have their title or path withheld (R1f).

The full table is `redaction-domain-classification.csv`. Withheld domains are never named in this package; the full mapping, the reviewed decisions and the borderline cases are held by AlphaCitation in the restricted archive.

### Named entities by type

483 named domains whose every cited page was cited by Gemini alone are not listed here or anywhere in the package; each mention reads [gemini-only host] (R1o, the release policy).

### Items flagged for human review

None. Every entity the classification rules left unsure was reviewed under the criterion above and its decision recorded in the restricted archive; the column `flagged` is false throughout `redaction-domain-classification.csv`.

Public-entity pages with a withheld title or path (R1f):

## Self-checks run before this package was written

- G1 instrument text: 36 windows, derived from 1 suffix literal(s), the D13 framing quotation and 3 market names; none present.
- G2 question text: the frozen coding outputs carry no question text (they carry prompt identifiers only, by design), so there was none to compare against. The build applied the redaction rules above and a heuristic scan for question-shaped sentences outside quoted answer or page text: 0 found outside quotes (the build stops on any), 32 inside quoted answer or page text (answers and pages ask questions of their own; listed in the reviewer's key).
- G3 withheld domains and names: no withheld hostname (with any subdomain), registrable domain, derived business name (written whole or split into words) or reviewed trading name (163 aliases) appears anywhere, including code and CSVs; the set of entities withheld as not major equals the reviewed set.
- G4 secrets: no API key, token, JWT, credential in a URL, credential variable name, internal key namespace, row identifier or local path.
- G5 sizes: no public file exceeds its source by more than 10% (redaction tokens only shorten or slightly lengthen text); no span exceeds 600 characters.
- G6–G11: qualifying E1 sources are public; no original prompt identifier survives in any file; recomputations; worked-path numbers (three paths, including Figure 11 against the per-answer table); dictionary coverage; verifier reproduction (after writing).
- G12 page P61's sentences: no run of 40 or more normalised characters of S1, S2 or S3 anywhere, checked by 200 + 60 + 235 window hashes (S1 and S2 read from the frozen robustness script, S3 held in the builder).
- G13 page P61's identity: its domain, company label, URL and page title appear nowhere, and no description beyond its neutral type sits near a mention of the page.
- G14 cycle identifiers: none of the internal form anywhere.
- G15 Gemini: no Gemini span, figure string or quoted fragment on a Gemini record; no run of 40 or more characters of Gemini answer text anywhere; no grounding-redirect link; no resolved URL of a page cited only by Gemini.
- G16 operational detail: no production budget figure and no internal job name in any file, code included.
